The Last Post in April!

Hi. Happy last day of April. It was snowing here an hour ago. You all know how much I enjoy the snow, especially when it happens when it is supposed to be warm and spring.

The other day I went on a bike ride and saw some really cool nature. First, when I was down by Utah Lake I saw a flock of Canadian Geese. It was awesome because there were 14 baby geese with them. Baby anything are adorable. I didn't stop to check for their passports but I am assuming that they are planning to travel back to Canada soon. I worry about their offspring though. They were born here in the U.S. and according to our silly and lame laws those there geese are American Geese. This could prove to be problematic in the future. I think we need to watch those four adult geese. They may try to stay here. Anyway. I totally did NOT have my camera which happens a lot when I get to see awesome sights. I decided I should draw you a picture of our Canadian tourists. Enjoy!

I also got to see a turtle on a log in a swamp along the Provo River Trail and then as I was riding my bike back to work I saw a funny llama on the top of a dirt pile. I don't think he realized that the other animals in the field did not care that he was the king of the hill. They just let him sit there on top. No challenge causes for a weird llama on a dirt pile.

Went to dinner with a few friends from work tonight. Love a good sandwich. Then had some fabulous ice cream at Cold Stone. I am lazy and getting chunky thanks to this crazy weather. Dang it!

Well, I hope you are having a good day. Remember that you are not the cool person at the top. Pretty much you are just the person that the rest of us are trying to ignore. Sorry that was me trying to make a life lesson out of the llama. I just like to type llama. It is fun to type. I bet you are going to try right now! Later

Bloggin' From School!

Not too much of note but I did just have a funny experience in my Boy's PE Class.  One of the boys thinks it is funny to fake punch or kick at me and after I got on his case about it, another student said: "Hey, take it easy on him.  That is just one of the joys of being a teacher."  I then said..."Joys of teaching?  He was just pretending to kick my face!"

That really isn't why I got into this biz.  It is funny to me though.  You do have to understand as well that the student who is always fake fighting with me (or at me) is actually like 6'7" and is like a giant to me.  It is funny!

So, there is another joy of teaching for you all to enjoy!

Sleepy Sunday.

Well, it is that time. Time to say goodbye to the weekend. This weekend was good and it flew by. I think the biggest reason for that is because I was busy, busy, busy.

Friday night, I went to my own softball game. We finally won but by a blow out. I don't like winning 25-4, it proves to be pretty boring. No fun for either team really. After the game, I quickly went over to our school's basketball game. They won and then played for the championship yesterday and again won. It is fun to watch them. It was very weird though because they played a school that is pretty near here and that school actually had tons more fans in our gym for the games. Crazy. I also helped out with our student council's car wash they had yesterday. It was kinda chilly for a car wash but they made quite a bit of money. The sun was out at least!

Today I didn't do a whole lot. It kinda was a futon theme day. I spent a lot of time sleeping or lying on my futon. Tired, tired, tired. Church was good as always and we got some news while there. My singles ward is actually dissolving and they are splitting up the people into two completely different wards. I think it will be a good thing because it basically motivates me to make up my mind where I will be going to church seeing I am too old for the ward I am currently in. Instead of making the choice after I get back from summer break, I will be deciding in the next two weeks. Crazy!

Well, that is all I have for now. Let's hope this week is full of great adventure!

Tired

So Sleepy!  I hear my bed calling me: "Alice, come back, come stay with me!"

Busy week.  Haven't gotten to bed before midnight in days!

Crazy.  I just wrote a long blog and it got erased.  DANG IT!

Oh well...we will have to go with the shorter one!

4/23/08

Addiction

Not much to blog, or just too tired to blog, so it will be short. Ever since going to the Coca-Cola Store in Las Vegas, I have been craving Coke. I had to have one tonight because I just couldn't resist anymore. I think they put cocaine in it still.

Funny thing is that I have also been craving M&Ms and we went to the M&M store. Weird!

Also funny how the cup also has "Rage" on it, seeing I wrote all about my rage the other day. Maybe the rage is also from Coca-Cola. Who knows?

My Anger Management Class Really Ticks Me Off!

Alice has been rageful the past few days. Here are three examples:

1. She was waiting for a friend because she was the friend's ride and it was taking too long. So she squealed her tires in disgust as she drove away leaving the friend behind.

2. She yelled at her 8th hour and told them that she does not get paid to monitor their conversations but rather to make sure they get some learning.

3. She almost lost it as a co-worker tried to keep her locked out of the main office.

Luckily, each of these rage experiences ended well:

1. She drove back to get the friend because she decided that the friend was not trying to get her mad but rather having a conversation. Said friend and Alice then went for a walk and had many epiphanies.

2. Alice made a seating chart for 8th hour to nip the problem in the bud tomorrow. She has threatened this 100 times so the frustration of the constant class disruptions is partly her fault.

3. She breathed and got over it.

I think when Alice does not sleep enough she gets crabby. Too bad it is midnight right now and she is still up blogging and not sleeping.

Funny ending story. Some punk kids at the grocery store were trying to be funny and put cough syrup right on my nice new loaf of bread. Because I saw them do it, I followed them with the cough syrup and when I caught up with them I said: "I think you forgot something." and slid the syrup toward them on the floor and it hit one in the foot. I just couldn't take teen not so funny attempts at humor at that moment. Idiots. I guess I am just full of anger lately. I have no clue why. I also have no clue why I wrote most of this post in 3rd person!

Funny Quote

I am very much a lunatic today.  In the faculty room at lunch, I was just hyper girl.  I do not know where this is coming from.  Anyway, of my students said something sweet in class today.  I was telling them that I can't just go with them everywhere and help them make good decisions and that I could only give them good information(we are talking about drug abuse) and she said:  "I have an Alice on my shoulder that helps me!"  I just thought that was cute.  You may not think so, but I do and I am in control of what is put on this blog so there!  I will write more about movies later! :)

Half Way and Okay!

I was just reflecting on my job and really I do have a great job.  I guess having a week away from my students has made me appreciate them more.  We are already half way through our first day back.  I love lunch.  I think I can make it through the next six weeks! :) Later!

Lists?

For some reason, it seems that writing lists instead of blogging are more appealing to me lately. Today was just another Sunday. I am not excited about going to work but I think if I were to vacation anymore I would become bored, so maybe it is good to be back.

I am sitting here wondering what list I should make. Should it be all the interesting places I have been, should it be a list of all my favorite movies, should it be a list of all things on my floor? What should it be. I think I am just going to make a list of all the movies I own, well at least the first shelf on my DVD storage place:

1. 13 Going on 30-I love this movie. It is chickflickishous! Imagine being able to have visited yourself as a 30 year old when you were just 13!
2. A League of Their Own-Any woman baseball fan would have this movie in her collection. What a fabulous array of famous actors. I wish I could have lived during this time and been a professional baseball player.
3. As Good as it Gets-I love Helen Hunt and in this movie she is superb. Seeing the transformation of Jack Nicholson's character from a bitter, mean, OCD patient to a nice, loving man was awesome.
4. Aspen Extreme-This isn't the best movie in the world but I watched General Hospital religiously at one time and Finola Hughes was on there so I had to check out the movie she was in.
5. The Bachelor-Great movie. Renee Zellweger is one of my favorite actresses and Chris O'Donnell is quite handsome. It is also a great movie about either getting married or stopping a relationship because there is just nowhere else to go.
6. Bewitched-I love Will Ferrell, he is just hilarious in any movie he is in. This one is a cute story of a clueless witch finding love and really it is based on the TV series so it has to be good!
7. Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen-I like teeny boppy movies and I really like Lindsay Lohan in these types of movies. I really have no clue why!
8. Dan in Real Life- One of the best movies to come out this past year. It has everything: humor, love, heartbreak, and my favorite talent: "Murderer of Love."
9. Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood-Just a heartwarming story of growing up and having great friends to share memories with.
10. Electra-Jennifer Garner as an assassin, need I say more?
11. Elizabethtown-Such a good romance story. I wish it were as easy as it was in this movie. Just give me a map to my husband would you?
12. Enchanted-Even though my friend, Moo, hates this film, I love how Disney allowed a movie to pretty much make fun of all the Disney princess movies. I love how well Amy Adams played a clueless princess who truly finds reality and grows into a pretty amazing real person. LOVED IT!
13. Fever Pitch-Hello, the perfect combination of baseball and romance. I watch this at the beginning of every baseball season!
14. Finding Forrester-Haven't watched this movie in a very long time. Its draw comes from the whole I love writing business. I should watch it again one of these days.

Well there is a glimpse of my video collection. Maybe I will continue this tomorrow. We will have to see how exciting the day is. Notice that my movie are in alphabetical order, one of my few OCD tendacies.

She Wore Many Hats and Lived.

Pretty much I don't have much today. One of my friend's tagged me, so I had to write my own six word memoir.

I always have a hat on my head. I also do many different things in my life, so I thought that was a pretty appropriate dual meaning quote. I think it is important to live. This doesn't just mean breathing, it means actually enjoying the journey of life, which I try to do.

A list of the hats I wear:

1. Daughter
2. Friend
3. Teacher
4. Listener
5. Writer
6. Poet
7. First-Base Player
8. Advice Giver
9. Good Driver
10. Dreamer
11. Realist
12. DVR Watcher
13. Movie Connoisseur
14. Blog Writer
15. Diamondback Mountain Bike Rider
16. Scoreboard Operator
17. Slob
18. Green Bay Packers
19. LA Dodgers
20. Utah State Rugby
21. IHS
22. John Deere
23. NY Mets
24. Rhinelander Hodags
25. Funny Quote T-Shirt Wearer
26. Converse All-Star Wearer

That is good for now. Have a great day!!

Fun Friday!

Besides being relaxing, today was a real fun day. I got to sleep in. (LOVE SPRING BREAK) I then went for a bike ride in Provo Canyon. It was the first such ride this year. I think that the canyon is one of my favorite places in Provo. The trail was great and it was even warm so I was out with just a t-shirt and shorts. GLORIOUS. I think I even got sun burned. Anyway, it was a wonderful experience to be back out there again. The picture is from a part of the trail that still had some snow thanks to a little avalanche. It was an adventure to hike over it dragging my bike along side me.

After riding, I went up to Draper to IKEA. I got a new coffee table and a new desk. I figure I can now purchase some cool coffee table type books. I also am excited to have the little desk that I plan on using solely for the purpose of writing. I need to do that more.

I went to Red Robin with a few friends in honor of Burger Friday. And then I played softball. We lost again, but really it was only by three runs and really I only play to wear socks as a wise friend said to me. I wore my new pink socks that go up to my knees. Man, softball really is an excuse to wear fun socks.

Well, that is all I got. I am having a better attitude about being back in Provo. :)

Thursday....cold Thursday!

I didn't think being back in Provo would be that hard for me. BUT it is! It is so cold here. A drop in thirty degrees in a big thing. Maybe I will relocate to Vegas. Maybe not because I would then always be complaining about how hot it is.

Today I have been absolutely good for nothing. I got up at 10:30 and then sat around watching movies on Lifetime for about four hours. I should have been cleaning or grading papers but no I just sat in front of the TV. What a loser. Oh well, it is my break and I can do whatever I want except for looting banks and burning down houses, I guess.

So, really there is no news. I think my Spring Break has plateaued and that makes me sad. Seriously, I don't want to depress you all; it is just hard to come back from vacation.

Tonight I will watch The Office. That is a good thing! Later!

And I do have my new Elvis clock to stare at...that also is happy!

Dam Tour!

Well, my time in Vegas in Dwindling. Tonight was the last night. I was glad that I got to see my friend, Lesley. I haven't seen her in about a year. It is weird when you all grow up and move far away from each other. It is fun to have friends that you never grow apart from, though. I am very lucky to have a lot of those kinds of friends.

Today we ventured to Hoover Dam. I liked to go around and just say dam. I liked the dam tour. I bought a dam t-shirt. I enjoyed my dam slushie. Things like that. It was fabulous. I never really went on a tour so that was a totally new experience. It is pretty cool to ride the elevator far below and go in the cool, literally cool, tunnels. I cannot even begin to imagine what it was like to build that dam. What an amazing feat.

I didn't ever think I would say this but I am sick of eating out. I feel like I have gained a million pounds the past four days. Yuck. I will be glad to go back to regular food. I will also be glad to be back in my own bed, even though I highly enjoyed having a bigger bed. It is always nice to go away but it is also always nice to go back home too.

Well, night all!

Viva Las Vegas

We have been having a lot of fun in Vegas. Yesterday we just went and went and went. I spent too much money but I now have an Elvis clock that dances. You should come see it sometime at my apartment. Today we are going to The Hoover Dam. It should be fabulous.

Here are my favorite things about Vegas:

1. Drunk People: They are hilarious. You can play tricks on them.

2. The Bellagio Fountains: They are beautiful and relaxing. If it were up to me, I would sit there every night and just watch the fountain over and over again. You can see a very short video of it below this post.

3. Riding escalators and moving walkways: You can people watch. Another great thing about this is that you can do silly things like the robot or ride backward and people don't look at you weird because you are in Vegas and they assume you are drunk.

4. Casinos: People are just having a good time in there. I like how there are no clocks so time doesn't exist. It is nice and cool as to keep the people comfortable as to encourage them to stay longer and spend more money. There is also something about the ching ching that just makes me happy for some reason even though I am not much of a gambler; I like my money too much.

5. Hotels: Each one is unique. I like our hotel. It is the Stratosphere. It has an amusement park at the top of it and it kinda looks like The Space Needle in Seattle. My most favorite part of the hotel experience is the magic of coming back to a made bed at the end of the day. I wish that would happen at my apartment!

6. Live Statues: People are funny all painted and still. I made one of the statues smile yesterday because I creepily stared at him while he was doing the robot. Like we didn't know he wasn't a robot. Made my day to get to him. They are supposed to be all stoic but he was not!

Well, gotta run to the Dam. Later.

My Favorite Place in Vegas!

Knights Inn

In Cedar City, we stayed at the Knight's Inn. I never saw a Knight the whole time I was there. That is false advertising if you ask me! :) Anjai and I were hoping that we would find our Knights in shining armor here and then we could take them to Vegas to get married. I guess that is not going to happen thanks to the lack of Knights at the Knights Inn! We will now journey to Vegas! Yipee!

4/12/08

Birthday Festivities.

After the dancing, we came back to the hotel and celebrated Josh's birthday. We sung horribly, a Bills tradition, and ate cake.

The hotel we are staying in gave us that handy key. I keep telling Anjai that I hope we do not lose the sticky note attached to the key or we will be in trouble; we will have no idea what room number we are in! Funny! Don't forget to read the previous blog for more about our Cedar City adventures.

Greetings from Cedar City, Utah

Hi all!

Spring is officially here because we had our first softball game last night. We lost 10-2. I really do not care about the score, I just like to play. Today we had practice and it was SO nice outside. Warm, warm, warm!!! The sun makes me really, really happy!

Tonight I am in Cedar City, Utah. I just watched my little sister(yes, I do have a little sister, she is just from another mother!) in a ballroom dance recital. It was awesome. Man, those young ones sure grow up fast! It kinda makes me feel old. Another thing that makes feel old is my body. Playing softball two days in a row has made it hurt. Old.

I like Spring Break. I really do feel sorry for all those people who have to work this week. Suckers....just kidding. Tomorrow we will head to Vegas. We being my friend, Anjai and I. Anjai has never been to Vegas so I am going to show her all the excitement. I do not think there is all too much that two Mormon girls can do there but we will try! :)

Enjoy the spring-like weather, unless of course you are at the North Pole. Then just enjoy the normal weather.

Until later!

Pause!

Again, not much going on today. I did bake some amazing pumpkin chocolate chip cookies tonight. I also worked today and had a pretty great time in Health. I wish all days could be stellar, but then, wouldn't stellar be the norm?

I love my DVR. So much in fact, that sometimes I am watching live TV and actually try to fast forward the commercials. The funny thing about that is that my TV pretty much tells me I am an idiot by flashing a sign each time I touch the FF button that says: "Live TV." It should really say: "Hello Stupid, you are watching American Idol...it is better live so why would you even think you could fast forward the commercials?"

Anyway, I told my students about my love of the DVR and that I was going to start bringing my remote in so I could get them to quiet down. The funniest thing about this is that when I do point a remote at them and say "Pause" they actually quit talking. Who knows if this will work forever but I am totally going to milk this for as long as it does work. One of the kids was very funny. I kept pausing and unpausing him and he would stop mid sentence and then start where he left off. My favorite was when I fast forwarded him and he spoke amazingly fast. It was so fun.

Well, that is it for now. Only two more days of school before it is Spring Break, Yipee!

P.S. I did not bring my special DVR remote because I was afraid I would leave it there and that would be a sad day. Why would you actually get up and change the channel...that is just silly!

4/7/08

Ship 'em away!

I really have nothing today. It was cold and snowed today. I had no motivation to grade the huge amounts of papers I need to grade. I got the oil in my car changed. I told people a million times that there are only 4 days until spring break.

A funny moment from Health class today:

Alice: "So, who pays for the jails?"

Class: "The government? Your mom?."

Alice: "Who gives the government their money?"

Class: "I don't know, Jay-Z."

Alice: "The government's funding comes from taxes, so who pays for jails?"

Class: "The government? 50 Cent? Your Mom?"

Alice: "Citizens pay taxes, so in a way we all pay for jails."

Class: "That is gay. We should just ship them(criminals) to Cuba."

Alice: "Did you guys know that the English used to ship all their criminals away to Australia?"

Class: "They did, that is crazy. So really all the people in Australia are criminals?"

Alice: "Well, not exactly. Some may be but they weren't sent there. Most Australians probably have ancestors who were criminals."

Class: "That is so wack."

They then went on a five minute tangent about who knows what. I think it had nothing to do with violence and the cost to society. SIGH!

Nomad Blood

I have been thinking a lot about buying a home recently. I think this could have a lot to do with the fact that my neighbors are not my favorites. I do not like garbage all over the lawn and I really hate listening to people scream at their children and play video games 24-7. Seriously, I would never change my ways if somebody were to constantly be screaming at me; I am sure young children are no different.

Anyway, back to the home discussion. I do not feel economically ready to have a mortgage payment. I also would hate having to do all the upkeep. (Mowing lawns, however, doesn’t scare me.)

Here is one of my dream ways to live: a big bus motor-home. I was riding my bike the other day by Utah Lake and saw many of these types of campers down at the campground there. I really have the nomad blood in my veins and with one of these vehicles; life would truly be a highway to me. I like this option because it would be cheaper than having a house. Also, I could just unhook and be on my way each summer. I could travel slowly across the country seeing so many things. It would be awesome. It also would be handy to make scams and then weasel out of town. Kidding, I am not like that!

With my luck though, I will be stuck in Provo for the rest of my life. SIGH.

This weekend has been fun so far. I got to play softball today. It was my team’s first practice. I will be playing every Friday night until I leave for summer. That makes me happy inside! It truly is spring and I am truly happy. Funny how I am always on this rollercoaster of emotions.

Last night I was able to see a friend’s art show and also see a movie that I like. 27 Dresses is awesome! I will also be seeing Leatherheads this evening. Stay tuned for the review!

I like weekends. Only one week of work until Spring Break. Yipee!

4/2/08

If I weren't doing this, I'd be doing something else!

I always tell my mother that in a few years I will be driving a big brown truck for UPS. I know this bugs her because I am too smart for that or something. Anyway, I think she really thinks that I am joking every time I mention it but seriously it is one of my dream jobs. I bet that is something you didn't know about me. I could listen to music all day long, I would not be bothered by people who are crude or mean(most people like to get packages), and I would never have to take work home with me(unless of course I had ordered something from amazon.com). I think that would be pretty much a cake job if you ask me. None of this working for 12 hours and only getting paid for 8 of them. No more being told you really should just be creative and do what you think is best for the tenth graders but when you do something you think is good for them you are told "maybe that isn't quite what we should be doing."

Another job I would enjoy would be stocking shelves at a department or grocery store late at night. There would be nobody to bug me at that job either. I would just be very good at driving a forklift and stacking products. If I am good at it, I am sure to have no problems. Then I could sleep all day long and then eat Ho Hos all the time and I probably would even get a discount on them.

Maybe a good job for me would be a car salesperson. I would l be one of those passive salespeople. I would let people shop around for a while before I even approach them. Then I would say creative things like: "Yes, this model actually comes in a hundred different colors, and really if you wanted to mix all those colors together, we could make a special order." or "You just think about this car as long as you feel comfortable. Afterall, you will be paying it off for the next six years of your life. Don't just jump in, call me when you are ready to decide."

Maybe I will just continue on doing what I am doing and one day be a famous writer. Of course, there will probably be a movie made about me years after my death and many people will be very dissappointed because they really thought I would find the true love I wrote about. SIGH.

Well, off to shower and sleep. Big day tomorrow. Training for work; a thrill a minute. I like the breaks when I can take out my MP3 player and watch The Office. That is pretty much the highlight of the day. I have a hard time paying attention for 8 hours. Later!

P.S. The pictures of the dye job are for Morgan! Notice that in the "Why, Hello!" picture is my Office Calendar. I have not yet changed it to April because John Krasinski is the picture for March. He is one of my imaginary boyfriends. Maybe it can be March all year long! :) The picture of Dad Bills and I are from about a week ago. Notice the difference in the hair color. It was pretty faded, wasn't it?

4/1/08

Nothingness

I think I have slipped back into the blah of winter. I really feel as if I have nothing to write about lately.

The highlight of today was the dying of my hair. It was really exciting the first time. The second time it was okay. Today, the third time, it just seems like a chore. It was pretty funny to see my friend, Alyssa, decide that she needed to give me a make-over. She always dyes my hair but today she decided she also had to style the hair after the dying. She also asked if she could do my make-up, but I had to draw the line. She is funny.

April Fool's Day was pretty fun, though. All of the students in our school thought it would be pretty funny to pretend to skip class and go to in school suspension during fourth hour. It was amazing to see that they could actually organize something together. I told my girls PE class that I was pregnant. That was hilarious. They believed me. Good times on the Fool's Day!

I just had some Nutella on toast. Man, is that stuff good. I think it is a new addiction.

It is cold I must go and huddle in my bed and sleep. Happy Mid-Week!
