So why hasn't Alice Posted this week?

*Photo of Alice just after she posted!

Hmm....interesting question. The answer is pretty much because she is tired and busy that when she decides to blog, it is after eleven and that usually means she decides that going to bed is much more important than writing.

Here are some tweets from the week(if you are a facebook friend, then you have seen these as well):
1. Alice doesn't like playing with fire. Next time the good charcoal will be bought! Maybe the lighter fluid will kill her. Pork on the stove! **I was very worried that I would burn my eyelashes off as I tried to get that stupid coal to light. I think I might have to have my dad teach me how to use a gas girl this summer and then I may buy a new grill come fall.
2. Alice is happy to be a carnivore at this very moment! ***Dang those pork chops were so yummy with A-1 and Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce accompanied by potatoes and corn.
3. Alice smiled a lot today while thinking of the fun time she had with nephews yesterday. Man, are they cute and so fun to throw around. **I had a blast with the kiddos up in Salt Lake on Sunday. Oliver was so very cute and funny. I haven't heard him giggle as much as he did when I would carry him around and let him try to catch his older brothers. So much fun. I also ate a whole bunch of food because I had the points to do so....it was awesome.
4. 21 days of class left, but I am still not counting. ****the countdown has begun!
5. Alice ran three miles straight today. The impossible became possible. It actually brought tears to her eyes! ***It felt so good to not stop at all on the run yesterday. I ran so very SLOW but really, I ran the whole way so I was so proud of myself. It was funny that I was listening to Kelly Clarkson's song "Impossible" when I was finishing because it was so inspiring. It was one of those moments from life where you actually think your life could be made into film. It was awesome.

Tonight I will play softball. It is a little cold to be playing but I am going to love it anyway! So exciting to start the season. YIPEE!!!

Hat Day!

Yesterday was hat day at school. I do not know exactly why we rewarded the students with hat day, but I was still pretty excited for it, seeing I usually am wearing a hat when I am not at work! I have about thirty hats so it was hard to choose one to wear. I actually didn't choose just one, instead, I chose seven...one for each class hour of the day. Only a few people noticed but it was pretty fun to do. It made for a fast Friday which is always good, right?

Life is good right now. I don't really have a whole lot going on. I am running three times a week and will run my second 5k next Saturday. You can read all about my runs at: http://www.aliceisarunner.fastrunningblog.com

Today I ran and then have procrastinated grading papers. Grades are due on Monday. I also have a lesson to do for Relief Society for tomorrow at church and I am not ready yet...but I will be. I am just enjoying having a down day. It is nice. The weather today is amazing. The run was made nice by that. I am also going to bring some papers onto my porch to grade so that make it a little more enjoyable.

Tonight, I will probably do a bit of TV watching and preparing for that lesson. Pretty exciting life, no?

Well, hope your Saturday is being glorious!

A Funny Story...

Life is going well. Seems to be flying by. I am way tired and need to get to bed so I am trying to make this fast.

Anyhow...This picture has a very nice story behind it. I was dropping off my money to play softball(yipee...I have a game tomorrow) and chatting with a friend when a guy jogged past us. My friend totally thought that the guy was checking my out...but I didn't believe her. I guess I don't really get checked out by guys too often, so I didn't think that was it. Well, a few minutes later he ran past again and said hello and winked. Then the next time he came around, he mentioned that I had nice muscles. It was funny. Then he told me that I should be running the next time he came by. I told him I probably couldn't keep up. Then the next time he came and talked with us. Before I tell you about that conversation, I will tell you about the conversation I had with my friend, while she was trying to convince me that the guy was checking me out. Basically, I told her that I already knew about five things about this man already: 1. He was for sure Latino, because guys who are Latino usually like bigger girls. I get a lot of action from the Latin Lover type. 2. He would be a lot older than me. 3. He would be illegal 4. He would be very forward. 5. It wouldn't work out. Well, I got most of those right as I was chatting with Ariel. Basically, it wouldn't work out because, technically, he was still married. Also, he was Latino and from Ecuador. He was also a lot older than me and forward. The only one I was wrong about was the illegal part. Anyhow. It was a hilarious experience and it actually made me smile because at least there is one man in the world that finds me attractive just the way I am!

On another funny note: One of my students drew a picture of me with what he coined the "quote of the year" from me. The quote was: "No, you actually do need your anus." We are learning about the digestive system and I had asked the question: "What organ in the digestive system is not needed by the body and has no function?" The answer, of course, was the appendix!

Spring has Sprung...but may have a hiccup later this week.

Well, I have been highly enjoying the flowers that are in bloom and the trees that have teeny tiny leaves coming in. I picked the tulips from outside my house. Aren't they pretty? They make me mucho happy!

I am feeling a little better today. That is very nice. The phlegm issues seems to be solving itself. I think my little run today helped move some of it. Nice...I bet you really wanted to know didn't you? It has been kinda a gross week!

What else? It was Monday which is never anybody's favorite. It went well at school. I had a little run in with my 4th Period students last Friday and today we had a nice little chat about it! They are Seniors and they are driving me nuts right now. But that is okay. I will totally miss them next year when I have to train a whole new bunch of sophomores...ew sophomores.

Alright. I have nothing else and better get to bed. I did clean my bedroom today and rearranged the furniture. I thought that by so doing, I would have more room, but that wasn't the case. I guess I will just have to live with it! (I also guess I had one more thing to say!)

Cheers! If you didn't read the previous post about my silly Health students, you should...it is hilarious!!

A Post before I Forget.

We are talking about Special Diets in my Health class today and one of the students opened the book(she was assigned the special diet of pregnancy) and pointed to a picture of the male anatomy(obviously she was not following directions and was not on the right page) and said: "There it is. Pregnancy is right here." Yeah....not so much.

The other funny thing that happened in the same class was when we were talking about hypoglycemia and one of the students said: "Isn't that where the person gets really cold?" To which I answered: "No, that is hypothermia." I don't think there really is a special diet for somebody with hypothermia, is there?

Hey, at least she got the hypo right. Sometimes little moments like this help us get through the day, don't they?

Alice is Sick of Being Sick

This week has been full of phlem. I thought I would get better after getting my voice back but that hasn't happened. Now, I am coughing a lot and my nose is either running constantly or completely clogged. It is highly annoying. Right now I have been awake for an hour and a half and I am thinking of going back to sleep. Pathetic. Whatever this is, it is kicking my butt!

Besides being sick, the week has been a good one. It went really fast and that was good. My students were good for the most part and I got to eat sushi yesterday. Good times!

I don't have a whole lot more to say so I think I will now go back to bed!

Sickness anybody?

Hi. I would post a picture of me today but it may look a little pathetic. I did not take off my pajamas all day(which I am pretty proud of some Saturdays, but today was different). When I woke up this morning, I realized my voice was still on sabbatical and that I was feeling kinda hot and sickly, so I decided that a sub for school would be a good idea. My poor students have had to put up with a lot of subs this year. I am thinking of calling this year the Year of the Sub even though I know it is really The Year of the Tiger. Maybe my body just needed a vacation from my vacation. I worked two days then had to take a day off!

I do have to look on the bright side. I was able to watch a few movies. That isn't something that I usually get to do on a typical Wednesday. I enjoyed Have You Heard about the Morgans? it was funny and cute. I only watched about five minutes of The Invention of Lying before I was thoroughly offended. I then threw in The Break-Uptonight. I forgot how interesting that movie is because it really isn't what you would think of as a "romantic" comedy. It was funny...but a little disappointing. I guess you will have some more reading to do on the movie blog in the next few days. I don't have the energy to write tonight but I will later.

I also graded some tests that I should have graded last week. I really am a slacker teacher this year. I am totally blaming it on the lack of a prep hour and not the fact that I am just plain lazy.

Well, off to get some more rest and hope that by tomorrow I am done with this gross tasting coughing that I have enjoyed today. I hope your day was spamtastic and that if you had an iPhone, it was treating you well and not being locked like mine is. I am hoping that problem can be solved or I must wait until June to switch to AT&T, which I don't want to do but if I have to in order to have a full functioning iPhone, I will! I am sure you really didn't care but I thought I would put that out there. Cheers!

Me at Work

If you find my voice, please return it. I think my students like that I can only whisper. The world is pretty quiet today!

Day Five...The Last Full Day in Cali!

Well...The last full day in California was good and it went really fast. It started with a run along the bay, then Marla and I headed to Old Towne and had some fantastic Mexican food. We walked around the shops and it was fun. In the afternoon we headed to the beach. Too bad we didn't go to the beach earlier in the day because it was cloudy and not very warm when we were there. It was still gorgeous, though. We actually took an adventure to Del Mar and around the hills where the rich kids live. It was fun. We then ate some In N Out for dinner and watched some TV on the fantastically huge and awesome flat screen in our room.

Well, off to the races and the 10 hour drive that is ahead of us!

Leaving LA is hardish...Day Four Spring Break 2010

Well, the adventures continued yesterday. We have been using the GPS to get around and most of the time this is very nice. Sometimes it makes me want to poke my own eyes out. Let's just say we have taken the secret slow way many times. Getting to Roscoe's House of Chicken N Waffles in Long Beach yesterday was one of those times. But the craziness of the journey was well worth it because that breakfast was pretty much amazing.

We then headed to San Diego. It took a little longer that expected because somebody, who won't be name, locked the keys to the rental car in it. Luckily, said person has pretty good luck when talking to strangers and picked the right one to ask for help. Chuck was his name and he look similar to what I imagine many of my students will look like in the future. He had a very long goatee and gaged ears. He also was driving a truck for a living and wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He kinda laughed when asked if he knew how to break into a car. I thought that was a pretty darn good question to start the conversation for help. Anyway, we called Enterprise, who got us in touch with AAA, who got us a person to break into our car and sixty-one dollars later, we were back on our way to San Diego. It was a beautiful drive and a good day, even with that small set back.

We checked into our hotel right when getting into San Diego and it is amazing. We have gone up in class each day when it comes to our rooms, which has been pleasantly surprising. Marla thinks I should be a travel agent because I am so good at finding nice hotels. I don't know if I would enjoy that profession but I probably would be pretty darn good at it!

This morning I got up and ran down the San Diego Bay. I can see why people would live in this place. Running next to the water is awesome! We are going to head on to Old Town and find another beach to hang on today. It will be hard to head back to reality tomorrow, but this has been a great vacation.

I Love LA: Day Three of Spring Break!

Wednesday was awesome. It had both and awesome beginning and an awesome ending!

To begin the day, I ran on the beach and then Marla and I found beach trash...or treasures the waves bring onto shore. Things like sand dollars and shells.

We then headed into Hollywood and saw the Chinese Theatre, The Walk of Fame, The Hollywood Sign, The Kodak Theatre and we even drove down Rodeo Drive. Fancy!

Then to end the day we went out to Anaheim to catch an Angel's game. That makes five ballparks that I have visited. (My quest is to hit all of them in my lifetime!) It was a blast. I sure do love baseball and now that it has started again...the hope of summer is again here!

We are now off to San Diego and more adventures! Yipee!!!

Spring Break: Day Two

Today we drove from Vegas to Los Angeles. I do have to say that LA drivers are CRAZY!!! I also have to say that a GPS's directions can sometimes be really stupid. Like when it would say: "Stay in left lane, then exit right!" SERIOUSLY? How is that even possible? So, we got a little tense tonight while getting to The Santa Monica Pier but we made it, nevertheless.

We did stop in Baker, CA so we could see the World's Largest Thermometer. That was life changing but not as life changing as the Alien Fresh Jerky Store. I really don't know if the jerky was made out of Aliens or if the Aliens made the jerky. Who knows?

The lookout from our room here in LA is awesome. The pictures really don't do it justice as is often the case with pictures. There is a really cool Chinese garden right out our window that is very relaxing. You can hear the fountains through our balcony window. (That is much more relaxing than the smell of weed that we keep smelling through our balcony window...that just irritates me!)

We walked around the pier and then had dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. It was delicious. I am very full still.

Spring Break pretty much rocks! I LOVE it!!!

Spring Break 2010: Day One

Vegas was fun. We had a great hotel because we are pretty much spoiled. We ate at The Hard Rock Cafe with my friend, Alyssa. We then went to the Bellagio and enjoyed the fountains and garden.

This morning we went to brunch with my friend, Lesley. She has awesome hookups and we did not have to stand in line for the buffet at Harrah's and even went in via the VIP doors. It was a blast in Vegas as always. Enjoy the pics!

Ah....a sigh of relief.

Spring Break, Spring Break, Everybody, Everywhere....Spring Break, Spring Break......

Okay, so maybe not everybody, everywhere is on Spring Break, but I think you all should be! I hereby give you permission to take the next week off of work.

I am very tired. I should be sleeping but here I sit on my couch. There really isn't anything to watch on my DVR so I have been watching Youtube videos for the past forty-five minutes. I would have put a movie in but I was distracted by my iPhone shopping. If you know anybody who has a 32 gig iPhone(preferably jailbroken) they want to sell for a reasonable price, let me know. I have been shopping for one lately. It is stressful! It is also crazy and you probably have no interest in my iPhone quest.

The week went really fast and I don't remember a thing that happened that was exciting. That is kinda weird.

Today, I ate a delicious cheeseburger and played a fun few games of racquetball. Fantastic Friday.

Tomorrow, I will drive up to Manila, Utah. It will be a blast o' matic. That really made no sense.

Sunday, I will pick up Marla from the airport and Monday we will head off to California. It will be an utter blast. I bet you are jealous of me. I am jealous of myself.

Well, have a fantastic day!
