Wrigley Field

Baseball history at its finest:

Coming here was like going to Lambeau the first time. For a sport nut like me, the history and atmosphere of old parks is touching. I did get misty eyed as I thought about all the greats who had played here, the historic ivy, and the thousands of fans who have watched the Cubs play here in the past hundred years! This field is amazing. If you are a baseball fan, you need to get here at least for one game in your live. Amazing.

This trip has been a dream come true. As my uncle Jim put it: "I finally made it to Wrigley!"

Now, off to the next stop on the Aliceapalooza Tour: Door County. But first a whole lot of driving today. Three hours to Appleton. Two to Wausau. And then two to Green Bay. I think I could do without this part of tour!

I LOVE Baseball!!!

I am in Chicago today. It was a blast to go to a White Sox game with my uncle and cousin. So fun! Being at the ballpark on a nice warm summer day is heavenly! We also had a great dinner at a really cool little Italian place. Cousin Vinny owns it and he is a cool guy who chatted with us and gave us free dessert. Nobody says no to free dessert or to Cousin Vinny, right? Awesome day and Wrigley tomorrow. This is probably what heaven is like! :)

Happy Burger Friday!

It is burger Friday. I could go into how I am thinking the weeks are going much too fast but I am trying to ignore that fact.

I think you all should go support the beef farmers of America and have a burger. I am joining in the cause today too!

This week has been pretty low key, which is good because the next week and a half will have me running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I am dubbing it "Aliceapalooza". I am officially on tour. I will be hitting the following cities: Appleton, Chicago, Sturgeon Bay, Wausau, Rhinelander and Madison. Be sure to get your tickets because they are selling like hotcakes. (and I mispelled hotcakes and my iPhone replaced it was hot ales. They are selling like those too!)

Here are some highlights(I like lists so this seems appropriate) and pictures of the chill week:
1. Rain. It has thundered an rained almost everyday this week. I am starting to wonder if the sun even exists anymore and if I should start taking prozac now!
2. Tuesday I went early(before softball) to Wausau to meet Marla and Jeanette for dinner and then J and I went to the mall and walked around because we decided it was too cold for frisbee golf.
3. We suffered out first loss of the season. It was tragic.
4. Stayed up much too late with Marla and then ate lunch with her and then headed back to Rhinelander for tacos on the patio, the Wednesday tradition!

Nathanial was his silly fun self. I am glad to get some kid time. I miss the little rascal Utah nephews.

The courthouse building in Rhinelander is my favorite building here.

It ranks close to this building, which is not in Rhinelander, but on the way to Wausau. "Are you calling me a pig?"
4. Watching The Music Man with my sister. She now calls me Poopi because of it. Read my review HERE.
5. Chilling at home and finishing Arrested Development and discovering Better Off Ted. Both hilarious TV shows. You can stream them on Netflix, just sayin'. Don't judge me, if you find them stupid or weird.
6. Eating a great family dinner of Beef Stew. Then going to the YWCA with this kid:

Yeah. He can jump. And he is working in his history essay right now. I am his amazing tutor even though it is taking lots less work than being Biology tutor last year, it is work stil. The kid is definitely making progress and I am proud of him! And btw he is totally taller than me now. Crazy.

Well. There is my week. Check back for my tour blog! Cheers!!!

Alice's life in pictures...

Hi friends. Have you joined the revolution yet? If not, head over to The Postcard Experiment

I am horrible slacker lately. So instead of boring you with words, here are some pics:

Mom and I like to walk down our street and checkout the amazing gardens of our neighbors'!

Softball is a big part of this girl's life these days!

I love Jimmy Johns and their signs. It was nice they were open late last Thursday after my game. By the way: women's team undefeated; coed team winless. Weird.

Cool clouds on drive to Rhinelander from Wausau Thursday after ball.

I am sometimes a genealogy nerd! And I am quite proud of it!

Dinner with the family is always good!

My hair+humidity, not so much! And I really didn't want to post that pic but seriously that hair is amazing, isn't it? Horrible pic of me but great pic of the humid hair!

Hope all's well. I have hired a grammar sheriff, so watch out blog!

P.S. Alice is committing herself to being better at commening back on her own blog's comments. I am not guilting you into commenting but I really do feel it is a great way to stay in touch with all my peeps. (And I really don't know why I am using "peeps" these days. Weird!) Now off to run!

I am very tired lately. I should be out on my bike right now but I am sitting here doing this. I caught two fish this week. Here they are in glory:

And here I am in fishing glory:

I have done a whole lot of exciting things: Like moving my pictures from my computer to my flash drive. Doesn't it sounds exciting?

I did finish Kristin Chenoweth's book, A Little Bit Wicked: Life, Love, and Faith in Stages, today. It is hilariously creatively written. She has been added to my "I Want to Meet Them" list!  You would like the book. And why does blogger not have an underlining option? I do know books are underlined, just so you all know!

I have been on a Cheoweth kick and watched a few episodes of her series "Kristin" on YouTube. It is a very cute show. Too bad it didn't last more than a season. Kinda like it was too bad "Pushing Daisies" only lasted two. What do these networks know about good TV anyway?

Have a cheerful day. I am off to Walgreens and then to Wausau for ball. Let's hope I don't drive down and get a rain out!

Comments

I know some of you read this blog. I know this because I am an internet stalker. What has happened to all the commenting that used to go on here? Morgan...thank you for your undying commenting. The rest of you: shame! Just kidding, but it would be nice to hear from you guys on occasion and what you are thinking. Just sayin'!

Celebrate Good Times!!!

My whole family was in town for my parents 45th Wedding Anniversary. I am quite proud of their great accomplishment. We even had a dinner just like they had for their wedding: baked chicken, dressing, and potatoes and gravy. My sister also brought an amazing carrot cake. There was good food to eat all around. I like food. Here are some pictures from the festivities. One of my mom's friends took family pictures for us. I will post them some other time. I am too lazy to go get the cd and walk to the computer!

My brother, Erich, and I. I hadn't seen him in two years and was so glad to spend time with him and his wife, Carmen.

I did a 2.7 mile run in honor of my parents. Okay, it was because I knew there would be too much food! The doctor was right by the way. Two would have been better. 2.7 hurt.

One of many Rhinelander Hodags that were scattered downtown for a car show/art show. Read about the Hodag HERE

Mom, Carmen, and cars.

A nice oldie.

The family at the car show.

Carmen and I before family pics.

Mom and Dad on their special day!

Jeff and Kris serenading us at dinner. Dad was not impressed.

Jeff, Mom and Erich at out fire pit.

Andi and Carmen

Dad and I at fire.

The dogs were worn out after all their playing. Buddy(White), and Divot.

Carmen and Buddy ready to head home on Sunday.

It was much too quiet after everybody had left. It was hard to say goodbye but it was so fun to see everybody.

Happy Anniversary Padres!

Summer is Moving right along.

Life is good. My brother and Sister-in-Law got here from Des Moines this afternoon. I have not seen them in two years and am very glad to have them here.

The past few days have been nice. Monday through Wednesday, it was bloody hot.
The weather here is bipolar because softball on Tuesday was too hot and then tonight I was playing in a hooded sweatshirt! Crazy. Tuesday we won 8-4. It was fun to play. I wore these rockin' socks:

Tonight, we lost by over ten but actually got to play all seven innings without the ten run rule stopping play. That's progress, right?

Wednesday was taco night again. Here are two pictures from the festivities:

They are as good as they look!!!

Cute kids, right? That Nathaniel in the front is one happy kid. He makes me smile and laugh lots.

Here is a sign of summer. The first painting of the toenails happened recently:

I like summer. I also like cool bumper stickers.

Well, off to read the end of Catching Firehopefully I will not fall asleep while attempting to finish it. Wish me luck!

Bad Blogger.

I have been pretty bad at blogging this week! Sorry for it.

I have been loving being home. Everything about this place is nice. I am even enjoying the soft hum of my Mother's snores through the wall, as I type!

I played more softball on Thursday. It was fun even if we got hammered. It is on a co-Ed team so it is a whole new feel! Afterward, I was able to enjoy dinner at the park with some friends and that I always nice.

Here are a few pics from Wausau on Wednesday:

Oh Philly's how glad I am to be back to eat you!

I loved finding this outside the bookstore I went to because I have two friends currently in England!

After coming home from Wausau on Wednesday, my parents and I went to tacos at Pat's Tavern. It is a summer Wednesday tradition! And you cannot break tradition, right?

Mom and Dad on the patio. It looks warm but we froze.

Cute friends Nathaniel and his mom, Bob!

I've also enjoyed a lot of firsts of summer this week:

The first bike ride of the summer. I love my new pedals and shoes!

The first fishing adventure of the summer. I think the fish were on a hunger strike that day!

Mom and Dad working on the flower beds. I joined in as well.

Cool gnome I found in the shed. There are others that will be moving around the gardens this summer!

Mom and I went to see a live band Saturday night. It was a blast.

I loved this ad in the bathroom. Really...fireworks for divorces???

Tonight we ate our first dinner on the patio and also had the first fire. Yummy s'mores!

I have had a blast this week. Summer has sure kicked off well!!!
