Happy Hiking!

Tonight, Reuben and I went hiking in Provo Canyon. It was great.

I didn't do a whole lot today.  Did some invites, then went to lunch with co-workers, then watched the office with Janette.  I like low-key days.  I need more of these.  I may be lamenting the fact that I decided to teach summer school.  Silly Alice.

30. That was a good year.

Hi kids.  How are things?  Are you sick of my silly postings yet?  Don't tell anybody, but I am getting a little sick of writing lists.  I do like positing everyday though.  It is a good way for me to later come back and remember what I have done in my life.  I forget everything by the way.

Today was a nice day.  I woke up early for a Dr. appointment(okay so that wasn't my favorite), then exercised and got a few things done at home, then went to a minor league baseball game up in Salt Lake and sat in a suite, then went to a meeting for the bike collective(they are helping with activities for my lifetime activity summer school class) and then just hung out at home watching basketball and baseball on TV.  Good stuff.

Reuben and I were supposed to hang together tonight, but he has been feeling a bit sick.  Some sort of cold is probably the culprit.  I feel bad for him and actually was quite disappointed that I wouldn't be seeing him tonight.  That is a good sign.  We should probably get married!

Been working on invites for the wedding.  I am sick of writing addresses but as I have been writing the addresses of close friends, I am getting more and more excited to celebrate with these wonderful people.  Thanks to all of you who are so good to me and supportive.  I truly am surrounded by amazing peeps.

So here is the list so I can go to my bed and read a book, because I don't have to be awake in the morning.  Take that!  Summer break rocks.

30 movies on my movie shelf(this is not all of them and they are not in my favorites order!):
1.  12 Men of Christmas
2.  27 Dresses

Watch some of these movies.  They are good.  Skip the Lindsay Lohan ones.  I don't know why I thought she was good at one time!  She's not.

Tony Stark: All right, hey! All right good job guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow; let's just take a day.
10.  Natasha Romanoff: [tied up in a chair being interrogated by Russians, getting a call] I'm working.

[Stark points at the mini-arc reactor in his chest]
19.  Tony Stark: [to Thor] No hard feelings Point Break, you've got a mean swing.

21.  Steve Rogers: Is everything a joke to you?
Tony Stark: Funny things are.
22.  Nick Fury: I still believe in heroes.
23.  Bruce Banner: We're not a team. We're a time-bomb!

Holy Jambalaya, Batman!

Happy Memorial Day.  Well, it is probably the day after for those of you reading. I hope you had a great day whatever you did.  I was able to travel with Reuben to Ogden to celebrate the day with the Cajun side of the family from his Dad's side.  It was a good time.  We went up early so that Reuben could make the Jambalaya.  It was delicious.  Reuben's Dad calls himself The Jambalaya King of the West and Reuben is his first apprentice.  I think Reuben is at least The Jambalaya Prince of the West because that stuff on the left below was amazing.  The gumbo that is on the right was mighty tasty as well.
Reuben's "engagement" ring.  He always complains that he is engaged too and doesn't get to wear a ring.  I found this one in the weight room and decided it would fit his finger and that I should give it to him.  He loves it!
I helped a bit.  With Reuben and nephew Isaac.
I LOVE my future Father-in-Law.  He is a man of great stories and it was very touching to hear him talk about his parents and uncle at a cemetery in Salt Lake today.
JAMBALAYA!
Reuben working his jambalaya magic!  Yum!  What a stud!
It was fun to hang out with the family and to eat amazing food.  I also enjoyed going to a few cemeteries with the Ficklins and honoring their ancestors.  A great day.  The weather was great as well. Love it.

27 Things You Hear from the Nephews.

Good day.  Taught last lesson for my ward in Relief Society.  For those of you who may not be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Relief Society is one the largest Women's organizations.  Basically, we gather together as women and discuss Gospel Principles.  It is one of my favorite hours of the week and some of my best friends, I have met in these weekly one hour meetings.

I also was able to go with Reuben up to Morgan and Derek's for dinner.  It was YUMMY as always(thanks Morgan, you are truly superwoman!).  The boys were fun as always, which is demonstrated by some of the things they said today:
1.  "Come with me," as Spencer took me by the hand and led me outside.
2.  "It's my spy stuff," Spencer while holding a baby monitor and plastic coupon organizer.
3.  "What doe the turkey say to the bus?  Gobble, Gobble,"  Henry telling a joke.
4.  "It matches Spencer's plate," Oliver while being handed a new fork after dropping his on the ground.
5.  "Spencer stole my pen," Oliver angrily.
6.  "I want Smarties," Oliver, who had missed eating said Smarties because he fell asleep before getting the package open.
7.  "Mine has a kickstand," Henry on his bike.  He is so grown up.
8.  "Wanna see my new tricks with my new pedals?," Henry.  Pedals make all the difference sometimes.
9.  "You're notebook owl is just like the owl on your belt," Spencer remembering my owl belt.
10.  "That sure is a little notebook, Alice," Henry.  He really wanted to have my notebook.  It's fancy and made out of medal.  It also is spring loaded to open when you take the pen out of the side.
11.  "Because I falled," Oliver on his newly skinned knees.
12.  "Rah, Rah," Can't remember which boy.
13.  "I have a potty..." Spencer singing a silly song after being inspired by "Uncle Reuben."
14.  "Hey Reuben, will you play with us?," They love Reuben.
15.  "No more Soccer," Spencer as he stole the ball from Ezra and I.
16.  "Hey Reuben, Know where I'm going tomorrow? South America."  Henry has big plans for the holiday.
17.  "Hey Reuben, know where I am gonna go tomorrow?  Las Vegas...then to Japan and then where I am gonna go tomorrow!"  Spencer on his big travel plans tomorrow.  A bit more complicated than Henry's plan.
18.  "Big humongous bubble truck."  Henry explaining how he would get clean in a bubble world.
19.  "Then you'd get clean."  Spencer on the bubble truck.
20.  "Now you have to take a bubble shower!"  Henry explaining to Reuben how grown ups actually don't take bubble baths.
21.  "Whatever they got." Henry on what he will eat at Red Robin with the gift card he was lugging around.
22.  "I can't use it until I am big like my dad."  Henry expounding on the gift card.
23.  "I do in my piggy bank."  Spencer after Reuben had asked him if he had a bank account.
24.  "Tell me the truth." Henry after feeling like he was not getting the full truth.
25.  "Hey, Reuben Alice." Henry.  Apparently, we will not have our own identity after marriage.
26.  "Why did the rooster, pig, and duck cross the road on motorcycles?" Henry with a new joke.
27.  "So they can get to the piggy bank."  Henry after a thinking pause.

I sure do love these kiddos.  Glad I got to see them today.
Ezra pointing to a bird on the wire.
Checking out Henry's bike.
Kicking the ball.  He's good at it.  He will be the athlete.
Mowing.
Uncle Reuben sharing some wisdom.

26 Best Songs.

Hi all.  Today was a good day.  Saturdays are definitely special.  Cleaned the room to make room for the massive bed that Reuben and I bought yesterday.  Half of the room in now taken up by the bed.  Who needs space for clothes or other stuff in our room anyway.  It is a GREAT bed.  I am excited to sleep on it tonight.

We also hit the movie Journey 2.  It was cute and cheesy.  Reuben and I like cheesy.

Tonight I went to Rock Band with the friends.  It was fun.  I also sat and talked with the host for about an hour after. I should be sleeping because I have to ready a lesson for Relief Society tomorrow, sigh.

Here is the list of the day.  I have already visited my favorite albums but here are songs you should download.  (It was fun to go through my iTunes library!):
1.  "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)," by Kelly Clarkson.  Very inspirational.
2.  "Best for Last," by Adele.  Adele is a good bet on any song but this is my favorite.  Very Jazzy.
3.  "Rock Lobster," by The B-52s.  It is just silly.
4.  "Charlie Brown," by Coldplay.  It is just so good.
5.  "Why'd You Come In Here Lookin' Like That," by Dolly Parton.  I love her.  This is a good song!
6.  "Devil in Disguise" by Elvis Presley. I love Elvis.  I think we'd be friends if I had the chance to know him.
7.  "Escapade," by Janet Jackson.  I love Janet.  She rocks.  It brings back good memories.
8.  "Long Slow Slide" by Jewel.  It just has so much alliteration it should be illegal!
9.  "Sarah," by Jill and Kate.  It is a song about a girl who knows how to live.
10.  "Dream Chaser," by The Judds.  They were the first concert I ever went to and hold a special place in my music heart.
11.  "Summertime," by Kenny Chesney.  It is totally a description of me this time of year.
12.  "I was Here," by Kristin Chenoweth.  Yep this cute little lady has a country album out.  This song is a how to live song too!
13.  "Speechless," by Lady Gaga.  This song is written to her dad and how he wasn't going to have surgery to save his life and she answered his denial by saying she would not sing anymore if he allowed himself to suffer and die.  Very touching.
14.  "Desperation," by Miranda Lambert.  I just love the ease of this song.  She has a very smooth voice.
15.  "Here We Go Again," by Paramore.  I love this band.
16.  "My Wish," by Rascal Flatts.  My former principal dedicated this song to the seniors one year and I love the message.
17.  "100 Miles from Memphis," by Sheryl Crow.  Jazzy goodness.
18.  "These Are Days," Sugarland.  A reminder to stop and enjoy the moments.
19.  "Fearless," Taylor Swift.  She is so talented for such a young lady.
20.  "You're Easy on the Eyes," Terri Clark.  I have known some guys like this.
21.  "Live Like You Were Dying," Tim McGraw.  A reminder to do things now and not waste your life.
22.  "Empire State of Mind," by Jay Z and Alicia Keys.  It just makes me want to move to New York City.
23.  "Country Strong," Gwyneth Paltrow.  Yep, she can sing!
24.  "The Best," Tina Turner.  I often quote this song to people!
25.  "Message in a Bottle," The Police.  I just love this band.
26.  "Impossible," Kelly Clarkson.  I like all her music but this one is the song I use to remind myself that I can do anything if I just try.  It is very appropriate that this list both starts and ends with a Kelly Clarkson song.  I sure do love her!

A few pics from the last few days.
Rosanna Golfing at work!  This is what we do after school is over! :)

25 of my Hats.

Hats off to the 25th of the month and the last day of school.  It was a great day.  Seriously, I LOVE my administration at my school.  They rock.  One of them got me three sets of golf clubs to use for summer school.  One of which he encouraged me to take home and use.  My principal made me feel awesome at my checkout.  She really is a positive leader.  I really wish my co-workers would see past the hard times of change and realize that she is getting the vision of our school and is on our side.  She rocks.

I also got the printing of the invites completed tonight so the next week will be filled with filling envelopes and writing addresses.  Crazy stuff.

Reuben and I also went shopping for a new bed.  We found a good one and it was on sale thanks to Memorial Day weekend, so I was happy.  I guess I'll get a new bed in the next few days.  Awesome.

Here are 25 of my hats.  Reuben mentioned that I have the biggest hat collection of a girl.  He thinks I probably collect hats like girls collect shoes.  So silly.

1.  Grey LA Dodger hat.  Bought at Lids in Wisconsin Dells.  It is just different looking.  I think I may have five Dodger hats.  I sure do love my Dodgers.
2.  Walmart Bejeweled Hat.  Bought for six bucks this week.  I feel like I need more girly hats.
3.  Colorado Rockies.  Bought at game.  It is my hiking hat.
4.  Roots Girly hat.  Bought in Park City with Jane.
5.  Knit green hat.  Mom bought it for me in Park City at a really cool consignment shop.
6.  Two cowgirl hats. One is my seester's from our road trip a few years back.  VERY good times.
7.  San Francisco Giants.  Bought at AT&T Ballpark.  Hate the Giants but love the memory.
8.  Packer Hat.  Four of them.  Favorite is the pink one but it is getting worn out.
9.  Angels Beanie.  Got for free at Angel Stadium with Marla.  She's a peach.
10.  Chicago Cubs.  Bought across the street from Wrigley.
11.  Chicago White Sox.  Not as cool as Cubs, but still great memories with Uncle Jim and Cousin Adam!
12.  Yellowstone Bright Turquoise.  Friend Kathy bought for me.  She's sweet.
13.  Milwaukee Brewers hats.  Two of them.  I like the classic one better.
14.  Purple Visor.  For hot running.
15.  ADC.  For American Dynatec Corp.  Softball team original sponsor.
16.  Hodag Hat. Given to me by my dear friend Jim, who is no longer with us.  I miss him and how smart he was.
17.  Bike Helmet.  It counts.  It's blue and protects my melon when I ride to work.
18.  IHS Hat.  Free and support for our school.
19.  New York Mets.  Bought across the street from Yankee Stadium.  I also have a Mets NYFD hat from when I was there just after 911.
20.  Green Bay Packer Yellow Beanie.  I love running with it on in the cold.
21.  Team Ficklin.  Was made for the engagement pics.
22.  Salt Lake Olympics 2002.  I was there!
23.  Happy Bunny.  I love that bunny.
24.  UCLA.  I wanted to go there.
25. Idaho from a dear friend from Ricks College.

I fell asleep while writing this.  One of the numbers was going to be vvvvvv.  I better sleep some.

Cheers.

We also had yearbook signing.  It was a blast.  Snow cones, popcorn and soda.  Great stuff.  Oh and it was fun to have the kids sign my book.

Reuben is a trooper.  He came to graduation and had to sit in the crowd with me on the stand.  I feel like I am not getting much Reuben time.  He said he got to look at me all night so it was enough.  Cute huh?

Better sleep.
Cheers.

And then I fished.

Today was tough. Those kids are getting a little bit crazy. It was nice to head fishing with my guy. I didn't realize how lucky I am. Okay, so I have realized how lucky but the list of awesome things about Reuben just keeps getting longer. I am glad I have a guy who likes to fish. That is awesome. I caught the first fish of the season. Now the pressure is off, right.

21 one things I shouldn't say but I do:
1. Today I told a kid, "If you are going to have a bad attitude and not do the work this last week, just stay home."
2. I told a former student after her saying that babies aren't too expensive because she was on Medicaid and WIC, "Why should it be somebody else's job to take care of my kids?"
3. "I am not traditional and very particular in my old age," after my future mother in law suggest I register somewhere just because that is the thing to do.
4. "Retard" I say it a lot. And yes seester, I know it's not right.
5. "What the hell?" Right in front of a student after school!
6. "Shut it" to Sharri. All. The. Time.
7. "bastards" sometime to invading earwigs in my house. Sometimes
Directed at students.
8. "You're face will freeze that way". To one of my special Ed kids. I got a smart comment back and I totally deserved it.
9. "400" after being asked how many laps for warm up in PE.
10.  "I just threw your bobber into the lake."  It may take Reuben 20 years to get my sarcasm.  He is very literal.
11.  "I hope it isn't a symbol of our relationship," to Reuben after he mentioned that some flowers he gave me were wilting.  Again...too literal!
12.  "Are you F-ing kidding me?" To a lot of people about various things.

16.  "Just sayin'"  I say it a lot and it really doesn't excuse things like: "You really going to wear that to the movies, just sayin'"
17.  "You're losing points."  Sometimes I don't mean it.
18.  "Weight Training is not a spectator sport."  Sometimes they need to spot each other.
19.  "Stop it."  Actually, I quite like that one.
20.  "Eat Less, Move More."  It's that easy but sometimes I even forget.
21.  "What do you want from me?"

Enjoying the beauty.

Sweet Sixteen

Hey, it's the sweet sixteenth of the month.  What fun did you have today?  Eat any sweets?  I had cake and Mambas.

Here are Sixteen Sweet Things about Alice, which you may or may not have already known:
1.  Alice sometimes throws away food because she will eat it all if she doesn't.  Today it was M&Ms.
2.  Alice is addicted to Twitter and People Magazine.  She is a celebrity nut.
3.  Alice loves sports.  She is very excited about baseball season and the NBA Playoffs right now.
4.  Alice is right handed.
5.  Alice accidentally drank out of a coworkers water bottle today because she thought it was hers.
6.  Alice is a ball baby and is very sensitive at times and cries.
7.  Alice plays first base when playing softball.
8.  Alice is 5'9" tall.
9.  Alice will be dunked in a dunk tank tomorrow at school.
10.  Alice is superstitious.  She often thinks Packer games are going bad because she is watching.
11.  Alice loves burgers and fries.
12.  Alice has a bazillion hooded sweatshirts(Alice also likes to use bazillion at least once in each of her posts lately.  Who knows why?)
13.  Alice Rocks at Guitar Hero.
14.  Alice loves cool sayings and has many t-shirts with silly things on them.  Her favorite is the T-Rex one that says: "T-Rex hates push-ups."
15.  Alice loves to fish but doesn't like to keep fish because then she would have to gut them.(She is also very happy to soon have a new husband that will probably do the gutting for her!)
16.  Alice will have a new Yorkie dog in her life after being married and Reno is growing on her, but she also thinks she will have to do both some puppy training and owner training.

Well, that is all I got for tonight.  Need to get to sleep.

Cheers.

Payday is a very special day.

...especially when you forget to check your bank account and overdraft. Thank heavens for the line of credit that bailed me out! Whew!

Here is the list of the day and then I must be off to sleep:
15 things in the room with me now:
1. My TV with Inside the NBA on in the background.
2. Laptop ready to quickly check Facebook before sleeping. (I really want to invest in Facebook. Any comments/thoughts about that?)
3. My running shoes. I did put them on in hopes of getting a run in earlier. It was more important to chat with my seester!
4. Huge exercise ball. I need to be better about my knee exercises.
5. My Guitar Hero guitars and drums.
6. Green Bay Packet lamp and gnome.
7. My blanket that my grandma made. I often am chilly.
8. My journal.
9. A glass of water.
10. A bazillion remotes.
11. Piles of papers to sort through. Still looking for the time to get to it.
12. My scriptures. I need to make more time for reading and meditation.
13. Movies galore.
14. Kisstixx. His and her Chapstick. They are pretty cool. All Reuben's idea!
15. Baseball Easter basket. I think it will be the money collector at my reception. P.S. We are not registering and really want cash. I guess that isn't proper etiquette to include in invitations so I am putting it out there here. Hope it's not offensive.

Have a great day. Cheers.

Some days!

Today was tough. I was tired and that isn't ever good. The kids are crazy and I don't know if we can survive two more weeks of their squirrelly ways.

Went for a bike ride with Sharri and then dinner and fishing with Reuben. It was a good stress relief. I think this while planning a wedding thing is nutzo! I should have eloped.

That is it for today.
14 things I want to do this summer:
1. Sleep in
2. Edit the novels.
3. Read a gazillion books.
4. Fish lots
5. Not see students.
6. Lose 6 pounds.
7. Get married.
8. Get organized.
9. Have a fun summer school session.
10. Hike lots.
11. Play with the nephews and take them on dates.
12. Index thousands of names from the censuses.
13. Watch lots of baseball.
14. Watch lots of movies.

Happy Mothers Day.

In celebrations of Mothers Day Here is a list of 13 things about Sue(my mother) that I love:

1.  She gave birth to me.  That is so not easy.  Just ask MBC!  I am so glad I got to be the "surprise" my parents never thought they would have.
2.  She has a big heart.  She is truly interested in all people and loves big.
3.  She loves talking to strangers.  She can literally have a conversation with anyone.  Every time we fly somewhere, she has a new friend on the flight for a few hours.  Amazing.
4.  She laughs so hard that she cries sometimes.
5.  She falls asleep in front of the TV lots.  I do this too these days.
6.  She puts up with my dad.  He can be a grumpy old man sometimes but she sticks with him!
7.  She makes up names for things.  Remember the movie Forrest Gump?  Yeah, she asked me if I wanted to see that "Grump" movie.
8.  She is amazingly smart about everything.  I always go to her for advice about finances and other stuff.
9.  She dances all. the. time.  She doesn't care who is watching or if she looks silly.  She just does it.  I need to be that confident.
10.  She is planning one heck of a party for my wedding reception in Wisconsin.  If you are around Wausau on July 7th...you should come! :)
11.  She loves to have fun and gets out a lot.  She even likes concerts.  We had a blast at Kelly Clarkson in New York City and at Jewel in Milwaukee.
12.  She is sensitive and cries sometimes.  I think it is a big brave thing to be able to do that.
13.  She loves me always.  No matter how silly or how far I move away, she still loves and cares about me.  She also makes the best chili and lasagna.  I guess that was really the 14th.

Here are some pics from today:
In American Fork Canyon.  Reuben took me up there after dinner with his family.

Us.  We need to have Reuben go to smile camp.  He needs to get used to my constant photo taking.  It is still cute thought, isn't it?

Reuben made this card for me today at church.  I joked with him about me being a "Future Mother of America."  It's kinda like being a Future Farmer of America but different.  FMA.

I saw the next three pics on the wall at the Ficklin house.  Isn't my future husband a stud?
And Pious.

This is the smile I am looking for!  LOVE IT!
