I never thought I was super independent in a way that would make life hard when I got married but then I discovered that I really did love having my own time and my own money and so on and it was hard to want to 'be one' sometimes.<br /><br />ALSO, year one is hard. Even if it's not hard, the following years get so much easier (in my VAST experience) that year one seems REALLY hard. Our first 9 or 10 months were especially rough and I actually really enjoyed hearing people who'd been married for a long time say that their first year (or 5!) were a trial. <br /><br />AAAALSO, marriage is still fun.
